Every scout group is led by a Group Scout Leader (GSL), who has overall responsibility for the Group. It is their task to ensure that each Section in the Group has a good Leadership Team that develops the young people within the group via the deliver of a balanced programme. Presently, John Bennett is the Group Scout Leader (GSL) at the 1st Dunchurch Scout Group with overall responsibility for the Group’s activities. Mostly people call him “BENO”; it was his nickname as a scout and it sort of stuck! He became a Cub in 1976 and has been involved in Scouting ever since then, both as a leader and a climbing instructor becoming the GSL at the 1st Dunchurch in the spring of 2007.
All Leaders, Assistant Leaders and Section Assistants receive training and regularly go on safety and first aid courses for the well being of all the young people in their charge – these people are all unpaid volunteers who give up their free time to help with scouting in Dunchurch.
Mole is in charge at Draycote Monday Beaver Colony and works hard to promote a balanced programme of fun activities and enjoyable events throughout the year. She is supported by a range of new assistants, who organise and encourage all the Beavers to get involved. Mole formally known as Carol Bostrom has lived and worked in the community for the past 20 years. She loved being Brownie and then Guide herself, and went on to enjoy scouting through her own three son’s experiences, here at 1st Dunchurch.
Otter is the Toft Tuesday Beaver Leader and is supported by Squirrel and the Colony Assistants.
Matt is the Scout Leader and is assisted by Luke, Tom and Helen.
www.scouts.org.uk/por) gives us a set of procedures to follow and this is backed up by fact sheets for everything and they are available on www.scouts.org.uk. POR Rule 3.23 (The Constitution of the Scout Group) covers the running of the group but we don't expect everyone to read through all of this so here is an overview of the three key committees.
Everyone within the “family” of the group - this is the basis / purpose of the groups "AGM" which is normally held in the summer term each year.
Parents + Section Leaders i.e. the parents' committee - these meeting are termly.
The leaders across the group also have a termly meeting.
