2022 Scouts Expedition Challenge Award

by Ellie, Peter, Will, Olivia, Josh & Ed (October 2022)

During the first day we walked 20km from Braunston. We had multiple checkpoints including a water tower in Barby and the 79th bridge on the Oxford canal. We decided to more walking on the first day than the second as some of us had extra curricular activities on the second day, this also meant we could sleep in some more.

We walked though many fields and multiple one with livestock in them, but most of our route was on public footpaths. The walking was tiring but we enjoyed looking at the variety of places we went. By the end of the day our boots were muddy and our feet ached.

When we returned we set up camp and began our cooking. We made soup, eggs and sausage and bacon baps. Along with custard and roasted marshmallows.

The next day we ate our breakfast and started hiking again this time only 5km because of the extra we did the day before. It was hot and we had many hills to climb but we ventured on and eventually finish. In conclusion, the expedition was enjoyable and we learned many skills along the way.
