2023 - Team NUMBERS -  Scouts Expedition Challenge Award

by Alice, Andrei, Edward, Sebastian, Tyler, & William (October 2023)

On our first day we walked from Braunston to Dunchurch Scouts hut, via Barby. It was a 12 km walk over hills and fields, some hills were steep and paths were muddy. On our way at some point, we got chased by a group of cows on a field and it was with mixed feelings, but we all had fun. At that moment we realized that we are off the planned route but carried on for a mile or so to get back on track. As we got back to the Scouts hut, we all felt tired but happy.

In the evening we put up our tents on the school field, then we began to prepare our hot dogs and chips for dinner. After eating, some of us played outside and some watched England rugby game inside the hut and then all went to bed.

Next day we woke up at 07:30 to start making bacon and egg sandwiches for breakfast. Just before 10:00 we set off on our 12 km walk back to Braunston, via Grandborough. This route was a lot easier, although it wasn’t always clear which way to go. We aimed to be back by 14:00 and we did, having asked directions from the local people. Afterwards we were all tired but still managed to find some energy left to put the tents down and pack all our stuff before we went home.

It was a great adventure that gave us a sense of achievement and made us understand how important is to work together.
