InTouch

In January 2010 scouting introduced “InTouch” – a scheme setting out the approach for contact / communication between parents, leaders and young people on events (http://scouts.org.uk/intouch). The diagram below shows how this operates for our weekly meetings and you will be advised how this operates for camps and other events specifically.

  1. The Leaders hold records of all young people which they take to each meeting. Leaders take a mobile phone to the hut if contact is needed.
  2. All parents are given the number of the Section Leaders (via the handbook) when their children first join.
  3. Mobile phones are discouraged during meetings and there is no need for communication to / from parents by young people.
  4. Contact details of the District Commissioner are given to all Section Leaders and also set out in the handbook.
